Meet our Staff

Dr. Laurie Norman

I have wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 9 years old, but I arrived at Kincardine Veterinary Services 23 years ago, burnt out and cynical, considering a career change after working for clinics that didn’t care. I found my home, a clinic that truly did care, and stayed. Then I fell in love with the community. Soccer, mountain biking, skiing, the lake, and the people! I raised my two legged family here. It’s been pretty wonderful. I’ve found my home. So when the opportunity arose to purchase the clinic in 2016, I snapped it up, as I plan to live and practice in Kincardine forever. So far, so good!

Dr. Allison Hooper

Allison graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1986. After working for the anaesthesia department at OVC for several months she joined Kincardine Veterinary Services. She worked initially with both large and small animals but now focuses on companion animal patients. At home she is kept in line by two cats, Xpresso and Gonzo, plus her dog Shadow, who was rescued eight years ago on a trip to a northern Ontario Reserve. Allison is a founding member to the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmig Team, a group who travel to northern Ontario Reserves to provide veterinary care.

Dr. Margarete Buckler

Dr. Margarete Buckler graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009 and was immediately drawn to Bruce County due to it's natural beauty. She started in both companion and farm animal practice. In 2012, she decided to focus on dogs and cats and became an associate veterinarian at Kincardine Veterinary Services. Dr. Buckler enjoys paddle boarding and playing soccer along the shores of Lake Huron along with her husband Miles and her two children Celeste and Troy. The Bucklers can also be found taking their cat Mog for a walk along Boiler Beach!

Alicia Askes

After obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, I completed my diploma as a Veterinary Technician at University of Guelph - Ridgetown Campus and subsequently joined the team here at Kincardine Veterinary Services. I have never encountered a clinic so committed to patient care and comfort and have loved working here. My husband and I have three children, Derk, Ria and Zeke. We share our home with our two cats, Venus and Louis; two zebra finches, Flat Girl and Loco; and our Great Dane mix, Odin. I am passionate about my animal rescues, sharing my love for freeze dried food, and back woods camping with my family.

Lisa Van Dyke

I have been part of the Kincardine Veterinary Services team since 2009. I come from just south of Amberley, where I live on the family farm with my husband Peter. We have been married since 1985 and have 3 grown boys, Darren (30), Justin (29), Tyler (26). I have a general business degree from Georgian College and in 1984 became a licensed hairdresser. I ran my own hair business out of my home for 20 years. As kennel manager, I love caring for our patients and helping my fellow co-workers in any way I can.

Carrie Barmore

I was born in a small town in Western New York and my family moved south to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 4 years old. I graduated from college in NC and obtained an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting where I worked in the offices of: Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Urology and Neurosurgery. In 2000, I met my husband, Tracy, in Charlotte, North Carolina amazingly from the exact same small town as me in Western New York. We have been married since 2007 and love to sing karaoke, attend live events and support the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres sports teams. A great opportunity for my husband brought us up to Kincardine in the Fall of 2017. We happily share our home with 2 cats; George and Gracie and our puppy Dutchess who are patients at Kincardine Veterinary Services because the staff here care so much. Kincardine has been a great town thus far and we look forward to all there is to offer in Lake Life!

Kayla Thaler

Hi I’m Kayla! Growing up, I have lived all over Huron County, and I liked to help out on milk, beef and hobby farms. I always wanted to become a veterinarian when I was younger, and after I graduated High School, I discovered a veterinarian’s assistant program in Orillia, and here I am now! I love working with animals, big or small. Currently, I am living outside Kintail and helping out on our farm caring for the cattle.

Ashley MacDonald

Hey I’m Ashley. I completed the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College in Windsor, ON. That same year, I obtained my registration and became an RVT. Immediately after graduating I started working at a small animal clinic in Owen Sound and stayed for two and a half years until moving to the beautiful Kincardine area to be with my best friend, Cedric. I have always loved caring for animals, and knew from a young age that this was what I wanted to do. We share our home with a fun and energetic German Shorthaired Pointer named Mollie and Jack, our grey domestic short haired kitty. In my spare time you will almost always find me out with my horses Honey and Mocha. Any other time I have will be outside with Mollie or at local fairs or parades with our team of draft Mules. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends!

Sammy Small

I was born in England and raised there until the age of 13, at which time my family decided to make the beautiful town of Kincardine our home. I joined the team at Kincardine Veterinary Services in 2010 as a kennel assistant until I obtained my Veterinary Technician Diploma at University of Guelph- Ridgetown Campus in 2014. I passed my registration exam shortly after my graduation. I also got married that same year and now we have a handsome little boy named Jack. I have a love for animals both large and small and we currently share our home with two rescue dogs, Honey and Lily. I am very fortunate to work along side my amazing co-workers who provide an exceptional level of care to their patients.

Jenna Newsham

I was born and raised here in Kincardine. I had my high school co-op placement at Kincardine Veterinary Services and obtained my Veterinary Technician diploma from St. Lawrence college in 2012. I became a registered Veterinary Technician that same year and started work at the clinic right after graduation. At home, I love spending time with my husband, our 2 year old son, our 2 cats Mr. Socks and Timbit, as well as our 2 Bullmastiffs named Bosley and Brynleigh. I feel so lucky to be working at such a wonderful, caring clinic right in my hometown.
